From Filthy Rags to Riches

In what ways are you impacting someone? Is your story touching another person’s life? Do you believe that in and through Christ, that you are making a difference in that person’s life?

I have a purse. It has Disney princesses on it and I bought it recently from the Disney store. As I was strolling through the Disney Store, the Holy Spirit of God led me to buy it. One of the reasons He led me to buy it was because He wanted me to use the characters on it as a way to be a shining light for Jesus at work.

I bought the purse because I wanted to show the co-worker (all, who are women) and the girls at the daycare that we are all princesses. That’s right: We are all princesses of the One True King, Jesus Christ.

All women are princesses. Yes, we are queens, in the Name of Jesus Christ, but we are princesses of the King. My name, “Sarah,” means princess. I know that I am a princess of the King because He knows my name. In the Name of Jesus Christ, God knows my name. And he knows yours too, dear youth.

Dear youth girls: You are princesses. God handpicked each and every one of you and named you by heart and by soul. By heart and by soul, His Spirit touches you. By heart and by soul, His hands mend your broken heart. By heart and by soul, His light shines upon you, transforming what the enemy meant to be your un-happiness into a happy ending. Your story from rags to riches is what the King meant for you, from the beginning. May riches be your portion today!

~”Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”~Romans 12:1-2, New International Version~

Dear princess of the King of Kings: You are His beloved. You are the beloved apple of God’s eye. You are precious in His sight. May His hands remove the plots and plans of the enemy from your life and turn your sad story into a testimony! May riches instead of filthy rags be your portion today!

You are altogether lovely and God says so too! You are altogether pure and God says so too! Your sins are washed away and they are altogether as white as snow. Believe it! And also believe in Christ Jesus!

~”Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”~Philippians 4:8-9, New International Version~

Walk in victory, dear princess of the King of Kings!! Walk healed today, O daughter of the Most High God! Walk in those ballroom dance shoes and rock out that dance floor today as a child of God today in His palace, the throne room!

You are a Victor!

Dear Youth,

Do you believe in healing….not just any kind of healing, but in the healing power of the Son of God?

~”And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”~Mark 16:17-18, New International Version~

The Son of God is Jesus Christ. During His years of ministry on the earth, He performed many, MANY miracles on the sick so that they could get well. But, the question is this: How can a person, who is fighting mental illness, say that the healing power of Jesus Christ has come upon them?

This is a question that I will do my best to answer as it pertains to the glory of God as well as the battle (which is real) I face surrounding mental illness.

I fight against Bi-Polar Disorder. This is a battle that I have to fight EVERYDAY. Even though it looks like I am surrounded by a mental illness, I am REALLY surrounded by God the Father and  His songs of deliverance are my portion. God’s songs of deliverance are your portion too, dear youth. 

~”You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah”~Psalm 32:7, English Standard Version~

Many environmental factors caused me to develop this illness over the years, such as the divorce of my parents, having an unstable childhood, and other factors. I do not wish what I have had to go through on any child or teen, but do want to offer encouragement to those who are fighting mental illness:

  1. Find a hobby.  For me, that hobby was ballroom dancing. My friend from church got me into ballroom dancing and I  use this gift and talent to glorify God. ~”So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”~1 Corinthians 10:31, New Living Translation~
  2. Listen to Worship music. Worship music soothes the soul. I ride the MARTA bus on my way to work every morning and on my way to work, I put my ear buds in my ears and listen to Michael W. Smith, Tori Kelly, Hillsong United, and other Christian singers and bands that I find to be uplifting to my soul. It is a great way to get the day started as well as encourage me!
  3. Pray.  ~”Never stop praying.”~1 Thessalonians 5:17, New Living Translation~ It is easier said than done, but pray. Form a prayer closet too, if you wish. I watched the movie, War Room, and was inspired by one of the characters in the movie to make my own prayer closet. I use a saree bottom ( bottom of an Indian dress), as the anointed place that I sit in order to pray. I even listen to worship music as I pray or if I need peace and quiet, I pray in the quiet.
  4. Find a Church for support. I go to church and ask my Sunday School class to pray for me. The purpose of a church, Sunday School, or Small Group is to have that support as you are going through tough times and issues, then they can assist you through prayer or another need that you are asking.
  5. Journal Letters to God. I LOVE to journal. It is therapeutic and it is a good way to express your feelings and heart to God in a way that glorifies Him and petitions your requests and prayers to Him.

I hope these tips help you in the battle against mental illness and point you ultimately to God the Father. God bless you, dear youth!

~”For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”~Isaiah 9:6, New International Version~

The Sign that God leaves you with to keep seeking is the sign of Jesus Christ. The Sign that God leaves you with to keep press onto is the mark of Jesus Christ. The Sign that God leaves you with is an inheritance that can only be found, in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Dear reader: Seek God the Father. Seek His Kingdom. Seek His Word to find out what it means to be a child of God. All that you have to do is to call upon the Name of the LORD and you too will be saved.

~”If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”Romans 10:9, New International Version~

To be a child of God is to give your life as an offering to the LORD. To be a child of God means to completely and entirely surrender to God in your current state of brokenness. To be a child of God means to let the Holy Spirit of God use you, dear reader, in the Way that He wants to use you.

Dear reader: Let the hands of God use you in the Way He wants to use you. Let the hands of God put you on that Potter’s Wheel so that He can mold and fashion you into the child of His Kingdom that He has called and ordained you to become.

You are a king. You are a queen. You are ONLY in this world and not of it. ONLY!!

You are meant to have a crown that God wants to place on your head. The question is this: Do you want this crown? Do you believe that this is your calling? Do you believe that God’s plan is your destiny?

The choice is up to you to decide. Heaven and Hell are at stake. May Heaven rain upon you and be your portion, dear reader.

“Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before.”~Joel 2:23, English Standard Version~

I pray that you choose to walk in this rain that God wants to pour on you. May it wash you of your past. May it wash you of your wrongs. May it wash you clean of the scarlet that is on you and make you white as snow, by His power.

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”~Isaiah 1:18, English Standard Version~

You are now healed by His stripes, dear reader. Now, walk in Victory today. God bless you!

I AM is my Bridegroom and I am His Bride, in the Name of Jesus Christ

Cleanliness is Godliness, in the Name of Jesus Christ.

That’s right, dear reader. I’ll say it again: Cleanliness is Godliness, in the Name of Jesus Christ. That’s because God meant for things to remain and to stay in order. The universe is order. Order is because of what God meant to be: The divine is now in complete order and serenity because of Jesus Christ.

~”But godliness with contentment is great gain.”~1 Timothy 6:6, New International Version~

I went through a time of my life in which my room was in complete disarray and dirty. Books were stuffed in my closet, clothes were scattered on the floor, and papers were disorganized on the floors of my bedroom. My mind was scattered. My brain was disorganized. I did not know the meaning of order nor did I know the meaning of what cleanliness meant to God in my walk with Jesus Christ.

I did not understand that cleanliness is EVERYTHING to God. I did not understand that cleanliness is really next to Godliness because Jesus Himself washed us of our uncleanliness with His blood.

His blood washed me clean of my impure state. His blood washed my mind clean of disorganized thoughts. His blood washed my heart and soul clean of impurities that needed to be tidied, all for His sake, so that I could put my focus on my Heavenly Father.

The red foxes are gone. The big and the small red foxes have been washed away by the precious blood of Jesus Christ. All of the red foxes (the sexually immoral, the thieves, the liars, etc.) are completely gone, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Praise Him!

This means that keeping my personal space clean was a sure sign that God would be pleased with His daughter for keeping her space clean! 

~”Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards are in bloom.”~Song of Solomon 2:15, New International Version~

Almighty God is pleased with me for stepping out in obedience. Almighty God is pleased with me for tidying my room so that it can be a reflection of Heaven on earth. Almighty God is pleased with me for cleaning my space so that it can be a place of fellowship and communion with my Abba Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ.

No to the dirty. No to the impure. Yes to cleanliness, in the Name of Jesus Christ.

I am now pure in His sight. I am now white as snow in the eyes of the LORD. I am now His bride. The veil has been opened. I see Jesus face-to-face!

~”Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”~Isaiah 1:18, New International Version~

~”But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.”~2 Corinthians 3:16, English Standard Version~

I am His. I am now His bride. I am a bride of God, in the Name of Jesus Christ. This is a privilege since I stepped out in obedience and cleaned my living space so that the Holy Spirit of God could touch me with His hands.

With His hands, my sins are washed away. With His hands, I am as white as snow. With His hands, I am altogether beautiful because every flaw is removed for His sake. I am a new creation. I am made new, in the Name of Jesus Christ.

~”You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in  you.”~Song of Solomon 4:7, New International Version~

Dear God,

Thank You for touching the lives of every reader. Thank You for touching the lives of every reader, who is reading this blog post, so that he or she can gain understanding of what it means to be close to you. May each reader accept what it means to You to be Godly and that cleanliness is a part of being a Godly man or woman of Your Kingdom. May each reader accept Your blood as a part of the cleansing process. May each reader be still and trust in You as he or she fixes their gazes on You and learns about what it means to be Godly from Your Word. Thank You for revelation by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for divine insight and wisdom. And Thank You for healing. I give You the glory, the honor, and the praise.
